Laser Hair Removal

Overview

Men and women who are frustrated with the time and energy they spend with temporary hair removal methods (shaving, waxing, depilatory creams) will feel free after experiencing permanent laser hair reduction at Fort Worth MedSpa of Fort Worth. Laser hair reduction safely targets and destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding skin or tissue. Since the treatment only affects hair follicles in the growing stage, multiple sessions are required, but most patients achieve 80 – 100% permanent hair removal in the area treated after 6-8 sessions. The most common areas we treat are legs, underarms, bikini area, and face for women, while men usually have the back, legs, arms, chest, and face treated. The skincare professionals at Fort Worth MedSpa use the Lumenis Light Sheer Duet for laser hair removal.

Laser Hair Removal Procedure

During laser hair removal, the licensed medical aesthetician will place the laser directly on the skin where the hair resides. The laser energy is delivered to the skin to target the melanin in the hair. During this process, the follicles absorb the heat the laser beam emits, which damages the follicle and makes it difficult for the hair to grow back. Most patients are able to achieve results in a 30-45 minute session that occurs once every 4-6 weeks over the course of several months.

What to Expect

Throughout the procedure, patients will feel a light sting or pop. Most devices are made with a cooling sequence that occurs between the laser pulses, which helps ease discomfort and reduce the chance of unwanted side effects.
