Juvéderm Voluma

Overview

Part of the Juvéderm family, Voluma is a hyaluronic acid (HA) wrinkle filler that subtly lifts and adds volume to areas of the face, such as the jawline, for a more youthful appearance. Sometimes called a “Liquid Facelift”, Voluma works best at correcting the sunken, hollow look that may occur naturally or have developed with age. Voluma works by by filling in the apices, apples, and hollows of the cheeks, lips, and chin, as well as the moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Voluma is approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for patients over 21 and includes lidocaine in its formula to minimize patient discomfort during treatment.

What to Expect

The Aesthetician injects Voluma into the apices, apex and hollow of the patient’s cheek. Results are immediate, and can last up to 2 years. Side effects are considered mild to moderate, and can last between 2 and 4 weeks. The most common side effects are tenderness, swelling, firmness, bumps, bruising, redness, itching or discoloration at the injection site.
